Congratulations on the purchase of your first home! You made it through searching, competing and closing on your first home. 1. Lawn Tools

2. Hose

Some previous owners will leave theirs, but don’t count on it. This multi-function tool will help you bring water to any area of your yard where you need it. Great for watering flowers and plants (with the proper pressure and attachments of course) and washing your car on Saturday morning.

3. Cordless Drill

This baby will come in handy for a variety of uses. This is one you will get a ton of use from and not regret. Best to invest in a good quality drill as it will last you a long time and do wonders for your home. 4. Tape Measure

It can’t be stressed enough how often this nifty tool will get used in the life of a home. Being able to take accurate measurements will save you a lot of heartache on guesstimating furniture, decor, layouts, etc. Want to get new flooring at some point? Use it to measure square footage. Need to know if the antique armoire from Grandma will fit down the hallway. Whip out the tape measure.

5. Hammer

Another multi-use tool that has a small footprint but a large impact. Hang pictures, make things, assemble furniture, nail together fixes, pull nails out of walls, and use for general force when needed. A hammer is one tool that should be found in every household regardless of how handy you are.

6. Screwdrivers

In your tool kit you will need phillips head and flathead screwdrivers of a large and small variety for regular use. Again, a pro for assembling and putting things together and apart, but also good for oddball uses where you need to get into a small space. Think when your five-year-old locks the bedroom door from the outside. Something has to get that lock open.

7. Heavy Duty Scissors

You’ll want a pair of high strength scissors to help you cut through any packaging or messes you come upon. Small safety scissors just won’t do the trick sometimes.

But now as a homeowner, you can expect to take on a variety of larger projects to make your house a home without a landlord saying no.
